The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) is accepting applications for the Residential Safe Room Program.
This program offers a rebate for the installation of pre-fabricated safe rooms in Indiana residences.
IDHS will randomly select 33 applicants to receive a rebate for their safe rooms. If approved, homeowners will be reimbursed for 75% ($5,000 max) of their safe room installation costs.
Full details can be found on the IDHS Residential Safe Room webpage. IDHS offers this program through a FEMA grant, and all applicants must comply with federal grant regulations.
Preparing for severe weather, like a tornado, is a priority for the state. Hoosiers can use the IDHS Get Prepared webpage to create an emergency plan for their families, schools, and businesses.
The application period is through Februrary 28.
