Police officers from the Plymouth Police Department and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the Economy Inn on North Michigan Street at 1 a.m. on Friday, September 25th for an unknown disturbance.
As officers arrived, they located John Matlock, known to have active warrants in room #221. When officers attempted to detain Matlock, he fought and resisted arrest. When Officer Vinson detained Matlock, he located Methamphetamine on his person.
Matlock was transported to the Marshall County jail and booked on the two active warrants, and new charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of methamphetamine.
Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
