A line of strong, fast moving storms rolled through southeastern Illinois and southwestern Indiana Thursday night and early Friday morning triggering tornado and severe thunderstorm watchs and warnings. The National Weather Service (MWS) issued a tornado warning here in Lawrence County after some atmospheric rotation was spotted on radar east of Lawrenceville heading into Indiana around 9 p.m. CT. There has been no confirmation of a tornado. The warning was lifted about 9:20 p.m. Numerous severe thunderstorm warnings were also in effect. The storms downed numerous trees and power lines across the area. The Vincennes Community School Corporation and the Bettye J McCormick Senior Center in Vincennes were closed Friday due to lack of electrical power. Crews continued to make repairs as of late Friday morning.
