The official ribbon cutting and grand opening of the new Sumner City Hall is still pending.
Sumner Mayor Betty Brian reported to the city council Tuesday night that the new outside sign is expected to be ready in a couple of weeks and landscaping and other work is progressing, but a firm date for the ceremonies is hoped for in perhaps a month or two.
The council did move to purchase surveillance outside and inside cameras and an alarm system for the new facility.
A motion was made to table and send to the Finance Committee for study and review and a recommendation on increasing the monthly salaries of elected Sumner officials.
The Fiscal Year 2023-24 audit was presented by Kemper Group and approved.
Work continues on the downtown sidewalk project near the school with a couple of changes made for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance.
