Here's why it matters: in a fire emergency, time is everything. Today's homes can become fully engulfed in flames in as little as three to five minutes. When firefighters arrive on scene, they need immediate access to water to save lives and property. If crews must dig out a buried hydrant, those critical minutes could mean the difference between a small fire and total loss. You can help. Clear a three-foot radius around nearby hydrants.
