The Lawrence County Unit #20 Board of Education met in special session Wednesday, August 27th at Lawrenceville High School and approved a new, four-year contract agreement with the East Lawrence Education Association (ELEA).
The action was taken after an approximately 20-minute executive session meeting by the board with its attorney.
Unit 20 Superintendent Doug Daugherty told GIANT-FM News that the district had been talking with the union for just over a year and a half on the terms. The agreement covers 2024 retroactively, 2025, 2026 and 2027 and contains teacher's salary and insurance increases. Specific terms were not given. Members of the ELEA ratified the new contract last week.
