Lawrence County State's Attorney Brady Waldrop recently announced that three area men were sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections. Thomas Campbell, 48, of Lawrenceville, was re-sentenced on a charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Campbell was originally placed on 24 months of felony probation, but he then violated that probation. Campbell was re-sentenced to five years in prison to be followed by up to six months of mandatory supervised release.
In another case, Nathaniel Sipes, 24, of Bicknell, was sentenced to 20 years in prison to be followed by up to life of mandatory supervised release on a charge of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. Sipes was also sentenced to six years on a charge of possession of child pornography to be followed by up to mandatory supervised release.
Kelly Newlin, 62, of Lawrenceville, was re-sentenced on a charge of aggravated battery. Newlin was originally placed on 24 months of felony probation, but violated that probation. Newlin was re-sentenced to four years in prison to be followed by up to six months of mandatory supervised release.
