Shelbyville High School’s girls basketball program recently completed its first youth basketball camp under new head coach Kylie Weichman.
A total of 41 future Golden Bears participated in the July camp at Shelbyville High School. The camp focused on the fundamentals of the game while having fun.
Here are the camp competition winners for grades 2-4:
- Free throws: Lillian Labrie
- 1-minute lay-ups: Charlotte Bunton
- Speed passing: Charlotte Bunton
- Hot shot: Charlotte Bunton
- Dribble tag: Stella Rieser
- Knockout: Stella Rieser
- 3-on-3 champs: Ada Sherwood, Ellyse Haas and Isabella Labrie
- Camper of the Week: Charlotte Bunton
Camp competition winners for grades 5-6:
- Free throws: Peyton Jones
- 1-minute lay-ups: Izzy Cunningham
- Speed passing: Delaney Bowers
- Hot shot: Isabella Labrie
- Knockout: Peyton Jones
- Camper of the Week: Delaney Bowers

Camp competition winners for grades 7-8:
- Free throws: Taylor Jones
- 1-minute lay-ups: Camille Chaney
- Speed passing: Maranda McKinney
- Hot shot: Maranda McKinney
- Knockout: Sophia Jones
- Camper of the Week: Sophia Jones
The camp also held a 3-on-3 tournament that included all three age groups. The champions of that tournament were Taylor Jones (7th grade), Farrah Clay (8th grade) and Paisley Salter (5th grade).
