Why Angie Is Running Again

Deep Local Roots & Proven Public Service

Born and raised in Marshall County, Angie Johnson Birchmeier knows the communities, taxpayers, and challenges of the county intimately. She is married to Jeff Birchmeier, and their son, Gage, is currently a freshman in college. Before becoming County Auditor, she served two terms as Marshall County Treasurer, and earlier worked for the City of Plymouth. Her record reflects decades of service to her hometown.

Fiscal Stewardship & Transparency

As Auditor, Birchmeier has made careful oversight of county finances a top priority. She has worked to ensure county accounts are handled properly, budgets are monitored, and expenditures and revenues are clearly recorded and reported. Her office has helped maintain financial stability in challenging times, and she pledges to continue scrutinizing each dollar spent for maximum effectiveness and accountability.

Lifelong Learning & Professional Development

Birchmeier is committed to continuing education to stay current on auditing, accounting, and county fiscal best practices. She recently received the Association of Indiana Counties Institute for Excellence Platinum Masters Pin for over 180 hours of continuing education. In addition, she also works to stay compliant with the required continuing education hours that are statutorily required ensuring that she stays current with evolving standards and legal requirements.

Statewide Recognition & Legislative Influence

Birchmeier’s leadership has been recognized beyond Marshall County. She has been chosen to serve on both the Indiana State Comptroller’s Advisory Board and the Indiana Auditor’s Association Legislative Committee, giving her a platform to influence policy and promote sound fiscal practices statewide. In that capacity, she has had the opportunity to interface with lawmakers and push for reforms and support for county governments. These positions have offered her the opportunity to testify before the Indiana State Ways and Means Committee, advocating for county-level interests and funding needs. Through those efforts, she has built relationships and earned credibility as a voice for local government.

Knowledge of County Operations & Inter-Office Coordination

As Auditor, Birchmeier works daily with the various county departments in all aspects of county government. In local coverage of her role, she has been both transparent and educational — explaining how the auditor, treasurer, commissioners, council, and various departments interact within Indiana law and urging citizen participation in budget decisions. Her prior experience as Treasurer gives her additional insight into the flow of county funds and how to coordinate oversight, collections, and disbursements in partnership with other offices.
