The public can participate in hearings virtually or in person on Aug. 26.
Public comment is open to the Indiana Natural Resources Commission (NRC) regarding proposed changes to the state’s river otter trapping and deer hunting rules.
Public comments can be submitted online at in.gov/nrc/rules/rulemaking-docket by locating the “Submit Comments Here” link in the Rulemaking Docket for the River Otter Trapping Rule and Deer Hunting Amendment Proposal. Comments can also be mailed to:

The deadline for submitting public comments is Aug. 23.
All public comments are part of the official record and will be included in the hearing officer’s report for review and consideration by the NRC. Once the public comment period has ended and public hearings have been conducted, the NRC will vote on final adoption of any proposed rule changes. The changes must also be approved by the attorney general’s office and governor’s office before taking effect.
Public hearings also are being held on Aug. 26 as follows: River otter trapping rule changes, 4:30-6 p.m. and deer hunting rule changes, 6-7:30 p.m., both online and in-person at Atterbury Fish & Wildlife Area.
