46-year-old Curtis Houghton of South Bend was arrested for marijuana on Friday evening following a traffic stop.
On May 9, at approximately 6:00 P.M., a Marshall County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Deputy conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in the area of U.S. 31 and Veterans Parkway. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Curtis Houghton.
During the traffic stop, suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle. Houghton was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked for possession of marijuana as a class B misdemeanor. He was held on a $250 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
