A new bridge will soon be built in southern Lawrence County.
The county board on Wednesday approved the low bid of Samron Midwest Contracting for just over $685,500 for the construction of a single span bridge across the Big Slough in Denison Township. Also approved was a contract between Samron and the Denison Road District to fund the project.
The work will be 100% paid for through the Illinois township bridge program. The project is expected to begin later in 2026 and take three months to complete, and the road will be closed during that period.
