Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restricting their activities. A Matter of Balance is an award-winning evidence-based fall prevention program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels.
The program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls and helps participants learn to: view falls as controllable, set goals for increasing activities, make changes to reduce fall risks at home, and demonstrate exercises to increase strength and balance.
Individuals concerned about falls, seeking to enhance their balance, flexibility, and strength, or those who have experienced falls and have restricted activities due to fall concerns, are encouraged to sign up for the upcoming A Matter of Balance session.
The program consists of 8 sessions starting in September. The dates will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, September 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and Oct 1 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Marshall County Council on Aging and the Life Enrichment Center located at 1305 West Harrison Street in Plymouth. Pre-registration for this program is required, and seats are limited. To register, please call the Life Enrichment Center by August 25 at 574-936-9904.
