Three people, a father and two of his children, drowned in a local river this past weekend in Jasper County.
The Jasper County Sheriff's Department reports that they received a call about multiple individuals spotted in the Embarras River, northwest of the town of Ste. Marie around 5 p.m. Saturday.
Emergency dive and rescue personnel from various agencies including the Vincennes Township Fire Department responded to the scene and the bodies of the three victims were recovered from the water about 6 hours later.
They were identified as 39-year-old Travis Keebler and his 12-year-old daughter Adelyn and 6-year-old son Noah. They were pronounced dead at the scene and accidental drowning is initially being given as the causes of death for all three. An investigation into the downing continues.
