The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a cold weather advisory for the entire GIANT-FM WAKO listening area from 9 p.m. CT Monday until 3 p.m. CT Tuesday.
Cold wind chills are expected to drop as low as 20 below zero during the period over portions of southeastern Illinois and southwestern Indiana.
These types of dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes and prolonged exposure could trigger hypothermia.
If you plan to be outside for a lengthy period of time, wear appropriate clothing including a hat and gloves.
