Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott has announced the promotion of Trooper Andrew Barker to the rank of Sergeant, following a competitive process that included written testing and an interview.
In his new role, Sergeant Barker will serve as the Public Information Officer for the Indiana State Police Bremen Post.
A graduate of Plymouth High School, Barker went on to earn a degree in Economics from St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer. He graduated from the Indiana State Police 68th Recruit Academy in December 2007 and was assigned to the Bremen District, where he patrolled Marshall County and most recently St. Joseph County.
Throughout his career with the Indiana State Police, Barker has served as a Field Training Officer, a member of the Mobile Field Force, and an instructor in firearms, defensive tactics, and Tac-Med.
Beyond his law enforcement duties, Sergeant Barker is active in his community, having served as head football coach at Triton High School for the past two seasons. He lives in Marshall County with his wife and children.
