Lawrence County has a new position created to help with emergency preparedness in the future. The county board Wednesday after a 5 minute executive session voted unanimously to reinstate the position of Lawrence County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Assistant Director and appointed James Calvert to fill it. They also approved the appointment of Joe Thompson to fill the expired term of Joe Padgett on the Denison Fire Protection District Board through 2025. Also getting approved was the bid of approximately $1.29 million from Samron Midwest Contracting of Murphysboro, Ill to construct new approaches and a new bridge over Eagle Branch Creek on the Applegate Road.
