A wanted area man was captured this week after being on the run for two months from authorities.
The Wabash County Sheriff's Department reports that 54-year-old Donald "Scott" Baird of Mt. Carmel was apprehended Wednesday without incident. A tip led deputies to a location in the 200 block of West 1st Street in Mt. Carmel where they discovered Baird hiding out. He was wanted for not reporting to the Wabash County Jail after being sentenced to prison in mid-May. A warrant was issued out of Wabash County Circuit Court for his arrest at that time and Baird has been on the run since.
He was transported to the Wabash County Jail and was being held there pending transfer to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
