Riley Festival to welcome thousands to downtown Greenfield

The Riley Festival runs this week, from Thursday to Sunday.

Hours for vendors are 5-9 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Parades

Children’s Parade of Flowers: 12:30 p.m. Friday

Parade: 11 a.m. Saturday

Parades can be seen in downtown Greenfield. The Parade of Flowers starts at the Pennsy Trail at State Street and ends at the Hancock County Courthouse.

The main parade on Saturday runs from Greenfield-Central High School, south on Broadway Street, onto Main Street through downtown, to Riley Park.

 

The Main Stage for concerts at the Living Alley off the 100 block of West Main Street. Stage 2 for acoustic concerts is on South Street just west of the courthouse.

Photography display: Entries in the Photography Contest will be on display from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday.

 

Visit Riley’s home

The James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home and Museum will host special hours for tours throughout the festival, as well as a birthday party on the final day of the festival.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The last tour starts an hour before close.

The Riley Birthday Party is at 1 p.m. Sunday featuring free refreshments for the community. The home is at 250 W. Main St., Greenfield.

 

Riley Park turns 100

Coming up this year only is a special celebration of Riley Park’s 100th year. Greenfield Parks and Recreation will host a party in the park from 3-6 p.m. Saturday. A 50-foot-tall Ferris wheel will take center stage, and there will be free food, games and giveaways from local businesses and organizations while supplies last. Shuttle rides will be available to and from the festival, starting at Spring and Main streets.
