
Waldron and Triton Central tennis closed out their regular season schedules Monday with a pair of sweeps against larger schools.
Waldron defeated East Central, 5-0, to improve to 11-3. Triton Central blanked Floyd Central, 5-0, to finish 15-6.
The Mohawks and Tigers will square off Wednesday in the opening match of the Shelbyville Sectional.
Waldron lost just five games in the singles matches Monday.
Charlie Fischer defeated Bo Nobbe, 6-1, 6-0. Cash Young topped Noah Kraus, 6-1, 6-1. And Lincoln Fischer bested Cole Allison, 6-2, 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Jackson Kuhn and Caige Sheaffer produced a 6-1, 6-0 win.
And Noah Mitchell and Connor Ping bested Owen Vollmer and Owen Mersman, 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
Triton Central dominated the doubles matches Monday and won a pair of three-set singles matches to defeat the Highlanders.
At No. 1 doubles, Max Crouse and Caleb McGuire defeated Kelton Granholm and Dane Kinnett, 6-1, 6-2.
Graham Gast and Drayton Kermode cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Brent Townsend and Mack Brady.
At No. 1 singles, Janssen Capps produced a 6-1, 6-0 win over Blake Schuler.
Brayden Hoover needed three sets to defeat Joel Irwin at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 10-2.
Bradyn Robinson also needed three sets to dispatch of Sergio Periago at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 6-2, 10-4.
The winner of Wednesday’s sectional quarterfinal match advances to Thursday’s semifinal round to face the host Golden Bears (17-5).
The other sectional semifinal match Thursday is Southwestern taking on Morristown.
The sectional championship match is scheduled for Friday.

New Palestine 5, Shelbyville 1
At New Palestine, Paxton Holmes had a hat trick to lead the Dragons (8-6, 3-3 Hoosier Heritage Conference) over the Golden Bears (6-9, 2-4 HHC).
Also scoring for New Palestine were Ethan Kihiu and Cole Christoper.
Shelbyville closes out its regular-season schedule today with its final match as a member of the HHC. The Golden Bears are at Pendleton Heights (8-5-1, 5-0 HHC).
University 2, Triton Central 0
At Triton Central, the Trailblazers improved to 8-5-2 with a shutout victory over the Tigers.
Triton Central finished the regular season at 4-11-1.
Girls soccer
Greenfield-Central 5, Shelbyville 0
At Greenfield-Central, five different Cougars scored a goal to secure the HHC win.
Lucy Blanton, Mia Binkruff, Aubrey Bush, Paige McCarley and Alexis Kerkhof all found the back of the net against the Golden Bears.
With the win, Greenfield-Central improved to 5-7 (2-4 HHC).
Shelbyville fell to 8-6 (2-4 HHC). The Golden Bears are at Greenwood (8-5-1) Thursday.
Girls soccer
Greenwood 1, Triton Central 0
At Greenwood, the Woodmen scored a goal in the first half and kept the Tigers off the scoreboard to net the win.
Triton Central dropped to 9-4-2. The Tigers host University (8-5) today.
Volleyball
Triton Central def. Monrovia, 21-25, 25-17, 25-14, 25-21
At Triton Central, Lucy May delivered 14 kills and Audrey Darlage finished with 14 digs and 23 assists to get the Tigers the Hoosier Legends Conference victory.
Triton Central improved to 14-7 (3-2 HLC).
Monrovia dropped to 5-17 (1-3 HLC).
Triton Central won the junior varsity match, 25-16, 25-14.
Anna Kemper collected 14 assists. Madison Swisher had nine kills.
Triton Central is at Rushville (9-11) tonight.
