The $3 million bridge replacement project on Randolph Street in Plymouth is 52% complete, according to contractors LaPorte Construction.
Last week, LaPorte Construction drove piling for bent 4. All the piles have been driven to bearing and cut and filled with concrete. Forms were placed, and Fort Wayne Reinforcement installed the rebar in bent #4, and the bent was poured on Friday. LaPorte also placed some rip-rap on the north bank, and the overhangs, decking, and deck pans on beam spans one and two.
This week, LaPorte Construction plans to finish placing all the riprap on the north and south banks as well as pouring the upper portion of bent 1. The last set of beams is scheduled for delivery and placement on July 21st. They also plan to install the end bent drains on both sides of the bridge.
New milestones and completion dates have been discussed with INDOT and the contractor. Marshall County and the City of Plymouth have both agreed on the dates, and the agreement has been sent to the contractor for review and signatures so it can be passed on to the county.
According to USI Consultants and LaPorte Construction, the project is on schedule. While the entire project isn’t expected to be complete by the Blueberry Festival, the bridge should be open to pedestrian and tram traffic.
